Explore Cadaqués
A small town along Catalonia’s Costa Brava, Cadaqués is one of the most beautiful places to vacation along the Mediterranean. This traditional fishing village has maintained its charm and iconic white buildings while also transforming into a sought-after bohemian vacation destination. Surrounded by nature, while at the same time being home to cultural events, fine dining, and shopping, Cadaqués has managed to stay immune to globalization.
NATURE
There are many things to do in and around Cadaqués including windsurfing, hiking, swimming, and boating. Walking along the coast of Cadaqués is one of the best ways to get to know the town. You can then keep going south to El Far de Cala Nans or north all the way to the stunning Parc Natural de Cap de Creus, the westernmost point in the Iberian Peninsula. You can walk until you reach Mirador, a little island lookout post reachable by crossing the Es Sorell bridge. There’s a water sports school and rental center called ONES CADAQUÉS at the Ses Oliveres Beach that is great for children and adults. The school is a 4-minute walk away from the house. You can also find more details on the many hiking routes around Cadaqués on the municipal website, there are options for everybody.
MUSEUMS AND CULTURE
Cadaqués has many cultural offerings and is famous for its many galleries. You can venture into Portlligat to see the iconic Salvador Dalí Museum, where Salvador Dalí lived and worked from 1930 to 1982. The Museum of Cadaqués is dedicated to the art and artists that have a strong connection to the area, including Salvador Dalí, Àngel Planells, and Joan Josep Tharrats, among others. Another option is visiting the cultural space of Cap de Creus, where the second oldest lighthouse in Catalonia is located. The space in Cap de Creus is dedicated to scientific exploration of the surrounding area. There is also a fantastic selection of galleries and art and music festivals throughout the year.
RESTAURANTS AND NIGHTLIFE
Cadaqués offers a world-class level selection of restaurants as well as tapas and terraces with traditional and seaside cuisine. For Chiringuitos, we recommend La Sal Es Xiringuito. For a nice lunch or dinner, Es Baluard, Compartir or Talla. Make sure you reserve in advance. Our favorite for breakfast or afternoon drinks and tapas is Bar Set. If you’re craving some ice cream, JOIA is a great option featuring vegan options as well as exotic fruit.
